Good news for YouTube creators, the video streaming platform
is becoming more user-friendly and extending its helping hands to the creators
even more. Being the most popular video streaming platform on the internet,
YouTube is home to many content creators and has made various internet
celebrities famous. With time the platform has made many modifications that
have helped the creators make content with ease and inspired them to use the
platform even more. Including shorts and allowing the creators to monetize them
was a superior move by YouTube which has welcomed many more content creators
and video makers to the platform.
·
What is
the new feature?
Now to make the modifications even better, the video streaming
platform is testing out a new feature. YouTube is now testing to tag the
locations in shorts while the shorts are being uploaded.
·
How does
this new feature make a difference?
Previously, the location tagging feature was available for the
creators but they could only add it after uploading the shorts. They could edit
the metadata on their already uploaded shorts and add their selected locations.
With this new testing feature, if it gets the success, the
creators will be able to add their locations to their metadata before uploading
the shorts. To add more context to the YouTube shorts, this new location
tagging feature will be available within the upload flow in the app.
YouTube is now rolling out a new feature, the 'Location' field
in the Shorts upload process, which will make it easier for the creators and
the users to add the locations on their Shorts clips. According to YouTube itself,
"Currently, location tagging is only available on the Shorts metadata
editor post-upload, meaning that creators can retroactively edit their Shorts
metadata and add location to it."
Now the platform is experimenting to achieve better
accessibility for content creators and making the platform more user-friendly.
Their new feature, if it gets successfully rolled out, the users will have the
ability to add a location to their shorts clips during the process of uploading
them on mobile. This feature is
currently available for a few selected YouTube users but soon after the
successful tasting, it will be available for everyone around the world.
·
How will
it be beneficial for the creators?
The location data for adding contextual information to uploads
is important. It will also be better to enable YouTube's systems that will
highlight more relevant clips to every user. This feature is already available
on TikTok where the creators can use the Location information on their videos.
In return, the platform uses this location information to categorize more
videos and clips depending on similar locations. This has often proved to be
more engaging, especially helpful to get the users to find more videos within
their immediate location area.
YouTube is now effectively looking to catch up with TikTok and
trying to make the platform more user-friendly. So for businesses and creators
who are planning to use YouTube shorts to get more visibility, using this
feature will help you to get your content out in front of more people,
especially in your area.
